Arbitrends Show Good Listening To NJ Stations

Congratulations to NJ101.5. Arbitrends shows the station to be the number one talk station 12+ in the Middlesex-Somerset-Union report. The estimated revenue for the market is 21.5 M dollars. Greater Media stations combined reported at 5.7 share, making them #3 in the market overall. The Middlesex-Somerset-Union report has been published by Arbitron for many years.

Radio Revenues To Grow

BIA reports a brightening picture for radio revenue through the year 2010. Increases each year; in the magnitude of 2 – 3% per year over time. For the past couple of years, revenue growth has been less than 1%.  In addition, BIA says small and medium market growth is greater than the largest markets.

Citizen Of The Year Named

New Jersey Senator Robert Menendez has been named Citizen of the Year by the New Jersey Broadcasters Association. The award will be presented to the Senator during the Mid-Atlantic States Conference June 5th at Caesars Atlantic City.  Senator Menendez follows a long line of Senators and Congressmen who have be honored by the New Jersey Broadcasters Association for supporting the efforts of the Broadcasters to provide New Jersey listeners with outstanding local radio. Senator Menendez is expected to address the association during the Citizen of the Year Award breakfast while accepting the award.

Web Ads Continue To Rise

According to Zenith Optimedia, web advertising is growing so fast that it will overtake radio advertising next year. Internet spending is slated to increase 28% this year, while radio is predicted to increase 8.2%. The ad pie is expected to grow, so while radios share of the budget will fall slightly, the overall effect will be more dollars for radio over time.  To help keep track of radio revenues in New Jersey, the NJBA has engaged Miller Kaplan accountants who will provide a report on revenue of New Jersey Radio stations.  No individual stations figures will be available, only averages. All New Jersey Stations are encouraged to provide their information to make the report as accurate as possible.
