Vision Statement: NJBA - leader of the New Jersey Broadcasting Industry, is a fiscally sound organization with clear direction, a stable and diverse membership, and the ability to effectively support, represent, and achieve success for its members. NJBA Weekly Newsletter, Friday, May 25, 2007 State Police Issues Less Than A Slap On The Wrist Yesterday, Colonel Fuentes, Head of the State Police, issues his punishment to Trooper David Jones, Union Head, “his conduct discredited the State Police” and “himself, contrary to New Jersey State Police Rules and Regulations”. The Trooper received a reprimand, and a 5-day suspension. With an oblivious excess of hubris, Trooper Jones, in a prepared statement stated that free speech for troopers was alive and well. He said nothing about the free speech of broadcasters, the very same people he tried to intimidate. It is clear, to any fair minded person examining the facts, the trooper got a pass from his boss, and the message was delivered, you can intimidate anyone you want and you will get away with it. This is certainly not the way to run a law enforcement state agency. State Police Buy NY And PA Radio Only Lewis Advertising Agency of Newark, NJ, did a bizarre thing any advertising agency could do. They used State of New Jersey money, designed to bring a message to New Jersey listeners and residents, and purchased New York City and Philadelphia radio stations only. After the campaign runs, the buy, the prices paid and stations delivered will become public record. At that time, NJBA will study the buy and show the agency and the state police that if you want to reach New Jersey residents, you must use New Jersey Radio.
