NJBA Weekly Newsletter Friday, October 12, 2007 Roberts Announces Retirement Philip Roberts, President of the New Jersey Broadcasters Association, informed the Board of Directors he will retire, in 2008. NJBA Board Chair, Andy Santoro, appointed himself chair and formed a search committee with Joe Bilotta, Bob McAllan and Elizabeth Christopherson as members. The search committee encourages any persons interested in the position to please send a letter of interest and resume to Andy Santoro, C/O The New Jersey Broadcasters Association, 348 Applegarth Road, Monroe, NJ 08831. The committee expects to make a selection before the June 2008 Mid-Atlantic States Conference. Budget Approved In other board action, the board approved the budget for 2008 and made some very minor change to the dues structure. Most members will find their dues will remain the same. Look for your 2008 membership renewal letters within the next few weeks. Christian Pop/Rock On The Air This week, WAWZ put its third HD channel to work airing a Christian Pop/Rock format. HD-1 carries the contemporary Christian station, HD-2 is broadcasting the original WAWZ programming and the new channel, HD-3 targets the 12 to 24 old with pop religious music and a hip sound. QuickNews believes that WAWZ is the only New Jersey station broadcasting 3 separate programs on their HD Channel. In Other Board News … The board is appealing to all New Jersey Broadcasters who would like to attend the NAB’s State Leadership Conference to check their mail for an invitation from the NAB. NAB is encouraging all state members to attend. There are 71 RAB Academy Training Courses still available for sales people to take from RAB.
